This will be the 32nd meeting or the Central Arkansas chapter. Our ranks have fluctuated over the years, but we're on an uptick in the last year or so. At our last meeting in February, we had a record 17 pens traded in our local pith. Here's what went out in a recent e-mail about the meeting.

Next Central Arkansas Pen Turners Meeting 5/4/2018

The next meeting is now set!

When: 5/4/2019 10 ish till 2 ish
Where: Jess Westover's house in Vilonia (Map to be emailed later)

Jess & his wife Cindy are both turners, so we'll have access to 2 lathes for the meeting. we could use some ideas for demos. So if anyone wants to show something, let's hear it. Or if anyone wants to see something in particular, just let us know. In other words, please give us some ideas.

Maybe as important as the demo(s) is the food (Ok, we know the food is most important). This will be a pot luck. Jess is going to smoke a pork butt, so we'll have some really good pork sandwiches. I'll bring baked beans & probably a plate of brownies. So respond to this email to let everyone know what you plan on bringing. Jess asks everyone to bring what they want to drink. He'll have coolers set up for us to keep everything cold. And bring a chair.

And of course, we'll have a pen trade. The theme for this will be "SUMMER". So make a pen that has a summer feel to it. Our theme rules are pretty simple. Since this is left up to the turner, anything will qualify. Our pen rules are simple too. The max amount for the kit and blank should be no more than $15 ish.

Start thinking now for our next meeting location. Our only meeting rule is that we plan the next meeting before we eat. We really need to try & nail this down during the meeting. So really think about where, and a specific date.

Directions & other info will be announced soon.

Ok, the host has a conflict on the 4th. The new date is May 18th. Everything else remains the same. I'll post directions in a week or so.

I recognize 3 of those blanks, I believe...

7 and 14 are extras I believe from a cast I commissioned you on. I thought maybe 10 too.

No, they weren't extras. they were from a new cast I did just for this trade. I had someone request them, and I used 1 for the pen I made (#14). 10 was cast by Vernon. It is similar, but he used pearl white rather than solid white. At least I think it was his. Vernon, John & Wayne usually come to our pen meetings now. And 1 and 4 were cast by others. So we have a good number of local casters. Speaking of casting, I need to do some casting for our next meeting on the 31st.

BTW, did you go to SWAT?
