Hi All,
I made this for a friend/colleague who enjoys fountain pens. I'm not sure he'll like this one, but we'll see.
This was my first encounter with the cellulose acetate of Mazzucchelli. As I had been warned, it melts easily (see the last photo), and so I couldn't use my parting tool as much as I usually like. But drilling was not bad (go slow, use lots of water), and the sanding/micro-meshing was easier than with, say, a similarly dark piece of alumilite.
It all worked out and I'm happy with the final product, although it was stressful at times. Thanks for looking (edited photos after posting to give more accurate color).
Materials:
Mazzucchelli "cracked ice" from Vince at The Turners Workshop (UK),
Bock titanium EF triplet, standard converter, and G4 clip from Beaufort Ink (UK),
Sterling silver finial piece from Treasure Island Jewelry Company (Etsy).
