Just wanted to open a new thread to "officially" notify everyone that the May meeting date has been changed to 5/12 (originally was 5/5).

The meeting will be held @ my shop (garage really:biggrin:):
41 Bouresse Ct.
Little Rock, AR 72223

Guess we can start around 10:00 am

I'll take care of the food but will ask you to bring your own drink.

I am also looking for demos from some of you folks that you might want to share with the group.

I'll volunteer first with demo of roughing out a bowl and drying in DNA.

Anybody else want to share something?

What's the story behind all of us living on a dead end road/street/lane?

Gotta be something in the water around here, cause Emerson lives at the end of a road too!

I'll be there! Sure I can't bring something besides my drink?

Chips/salsa?

Both my son and I are ready.

I know kitless takes too long but, I just want the sizes of dies/ taps and where to get them... oh Bits too lol.

Nice idea on the DNA. I have heard about it but never seen it.

meeting

Looks like I'll be able to make it also. Got a friend who wants to come too.Looking forward to the 12th. Ted

Wooohooo just 3+ weeks

Hey guys, were only a little more than 3 weeks away and I hope you're getting excited about meeting. I was thinking if the weather is nice we might even do it outside on my deck. We will have to see if mother nature cooperates.

I need to get a headcount over the next few weeks so if you haven't replied to this thread yet please do so I know you can come.

Also, let me know if you're willing to do a demo of some sort.

Hope all can make it....spread the word!

Pens for military

Hi Guys, I finally got my 10 pens done for our our clubs pens for the military program we discussed at our last meeting. Crappy picture, but pens are pretty good.

I'll be there. And I also have my "pens for the troops" finished.

As far as a demo, I'll show how I square blanks on the lathe vrs a pen mill.

Looking forward to the meeting! Just a couple weeks away!
Got back today from taking my son to Destin for a little diving trip. We had a blast!

May 12th meeting activities

Hello fellow AR pen-turners,

Were only a few days away from our meeting on May 12th and I just wanted to provide an update of the activities.

The following have graciously committed to doing demos:
Bob - Squaring blanks on the lathe (vs pen mill)
Shawn - Kit-less demo
Me - Roughing out a bowl blank and drying in DNA bath.

Should be a great meeting. If you need directions please let me know.
I live at 41 Bouresse Ct in West Little Rock 72223.
My cell number is 501-952-2854 if you get lost.
All food is provided but please bring whatever you want to drink.
If you want to sell or trade some blanks feel free to bring them.

Should be a blast and so far it appears mother nature will be cooperating with dry air and nice temperatures.

Leaving now, got some goodies.....

Looking forward to seeing what everyone made up for the "Support the Troops" pen making!?!?!?!

Scott (don't worry, I drive really slow) B

Just wanted to thank John for hosting this get-together this time around. Beautiful home, wife, and some good friendly time spent amongst friends!

BTW, that 5-bean was awesome, and the banana-pudding......to die for!!

Thanks for the demos! Sure gives me some more things to put on my list of stuff to get so I can turn stuff like that!

I'll get a photo in a few seconds of the pens we collected for the troops and get that posted in a few!!

Scott (gotta get things put away real quick) B

Does anybody want to have a June meeting? I'm feeling totally deprived since I missed out. We can talk about a meeting place if you all agree to it.

:)

MAY MEETING

Thanks to John and Mary Lynn for having us over for the meeting. Thanks for the wonderful food too!! Had a wonderful time as usual. Looking forward to seeing a picture of all the pens. Thanks to Scott for a lot of the blanks I used on my pens. Boy I have so many blanks now I really have some turning to do.lol Thanks for the demo on the bowl, it was really cool.Rick said he had a good time too. Happy turning, Ted

Cool! I'm up to go meet anywhere. I'd be happy to have you all at my place, but my shop is crazy small and wouldn't accommodate more than one person, and even then just barely.

I won't know what is happening for next month until maybe the last day of this month. But I would like to offer up a blank to be used for the demo....as long as I get plenty of photo's?!?!?

See through.

Scott (smoked green -n- clear pour) B

That sounds cool to me! I'll use whatever and make whatever you guys would like to see. If you all are cool with it - I could do a whole pen from start to finish.

I should be up for the 9th! PLEASE, NO KITLESS!!!!!!! That's just what I need.....to buy MORE tools!!!! :(
JK! Would love to see it!
