Anyone know where I can get 7/8" diameter aluminum rod with a 1/2" through-hole? If my little experiment works out, I'll be needing a lot of the stuff.

OK, Ed, this post scares me a bit. Whaddaya makin' down there, a Nuclear Reactor? I'm tellin'...countries have been invaded for accumulating aluminum rods.

Ed , how exact does that 7/8" dia need to be ?
www.speedymetals.com has some 1/2" pipe with an OD of .84 which is about 27/32" or just under 7/8" .

Ed wouldn't build a nuclear reactor.....it probably involves a cold fusion self propelled yoyo

if I was in your shoes, I would visit a few of the local machine shops. you might be surprised to find what else they can help with.

I don't know where you can get aluminum to that exact specification, but maybe you could find something acceptable from www.speedymetals.com. They have some tubes that come close, but nothing exact. They also have solid rod that you could drill out.

You could try onlinemetals.com or mcmaster.com
They don't have 7/8 OD by 1/2 ID, but if you can drill out the 1/2 ID it would be cheaper to buy the solid rod and drill it yourself.
