I use 50mL tri-pour lab beakers drilled for a 3/8 - 16 nylon bolt to thread through the bottom.
After putting the washers on the bolt to keep the resin from leaking out and to find an adequate spacing/depth, spray the threads with mold release then thread the bolt into the beaker.
Stack the beaker in another cause the one with the bolt sticking out the bottom won't stand on its own.
Before you fill the beaker with resin, take a small amount of your catalysed resin and roll it around and on the threads, then pour in the remainder of your resin. Place under light pressure if you use a pressure pot to insure resin is pressed into the threads. Let cure, then post cure in your curing oven to ensure the resin has shrunk as much as it will.
let cool and while gripping the beaker very firmly as the stopper blank has shrunk away from the sides of the beaker/mold, unscrew the nylon bolt.
Chase the threads as the nylon bolts are looser/smaller than the cut threads on Ruth Niles stoppers, which are what I use.
Make sure you measure the depth of the thread of the stopper you use and cast accordingly. Good luck.

I turned the blanks down and drilled them while still on the lathe. I think next time i will try something different though.. I actually have realized that the holes somehow are too big... just barely. With a bit of CA glue, they still mount but it is frustrating because i dont know what i did wrong.
How do you cast with the bolt in?
