Right now we'er having driving sleet changing to snow with winds up to 50MPH and are being told to stay home today, by tomorrow should be just snow on the ground giving us a white Christmas. My kids who were coming up from Texas will stay home, looks like the roads from Dallas north are terrible.

Stay warm and safe, Roy.
Sorry to hear the kids aren't going to make it, I bet you and they were
looking forward to spending time together.
Merry Christmas! :)

Sorry that your kids can't join you Roy, that's a real bummer.....:frown:

But look on the bright side.....

You get to eat ALL the pasta flavoured turkey all by yourself:tongue:

We have snow on the ground too, probably still be here tomorrow as well, but we can't claim a white Christmas unless the snow actually falls on Christmas day.

Cheers

Well it looks like we'll have Christmas on Sunday, both boys with their families will drive up on Sunday and stay until Monday, so the pasta flavored Pork Roast and Turkey won't go to waste after all.

Roy, Enjoy the Family, and the weather, all we are getting is the 40 to 50 MPH winds and some horizontal rain, of course it's blowing on my wood pile.
MERRY CHRISTMAS
Ken

Last time I was in that area around Christmas was about 1949... we lived about 5 miles from the Red River bridge that goes over from Vernon to Altus... we had a "blue norther" blew in on the last day of school... I was in 3rd grade and went to school in a lightweight canvas jacket... my sister and I got off the bus about 2 miles from the house and started walking in a freezing wind and sleet and snow.... our parents had gone into town and were coming back to pick us up, but were about 10 minutes late.... if another couple had not stopped and took mercy on us, we might not have made it home....it's just a good thing we could leave our door open in those days... the couple took us in and light the cook stove so we could warm up... my mother was in a total panic and 8 1/2 months pregnant... we nearly got our butts warmed for not waiting where we were supposed to be at the neighbor's house where we got off the bus.

It can get cold up there...... glad your boys are waiting until Sunday and not trying the roads in the snow... Merry Christmas Roy and enjoy your family time.

I live in a suburb just north of dallas.....just sitting here watching it snow. I think your kids made the right decsion. no sense being in an accident if you can avoid it.

We are 150 miles west of DFW, and had snow when we got up this morning. It has finally quit but cold enough we will have a white Christmas. With tomorrow's forecast it looks like it most will be melted by late afternoon.

Merry Christmas to All

Roy,

Glad to here the family will make it up Sunday, that's great. Oh Yea, and keep that snow out there in Oklahoma, the older I get, the less I like a White Christmas, I can enjoy it just fine without the snow.

Well so far 9 inches in my back yard, my corgi (snow up to his shoulders) and I went out to the shop to turn down my propane heaters and found that condensation had formed on the ceiling and dripped on all my tools (metal building uninsulated) damn. Next project will be to insulate the ceiling. Oklahoma city so far 11 inches an all time record for one day.
