I am looking for a professional company to stabilize and dye quality pen blanks I have been collecting over the past few years. Many are burls. Some I would like to have also dyed.

A few years back Bill at Arizona Silhouette had about 150 blanks done for me and was very happy with service. Now of course he is too bussy and would not do this service any longer. Wish I knew who he had used. All he had told me was he used different services for certain types of blanks.

Any input or experiences with any companies would greatly be appreciated in my decision as to where to send them off to. I will be looking to do 200-300 blanks so quality work is what I'm looking for.

I believe Bill uses River Ridge (rrpwhite.com). I've use them for clear stabilizing spalted wood and it came out great and they have great service. If you want some dyed, I think you have to have quite a few blanks to be dyed in the same color or wait for it to be combined with someone else who wants the same color.

I believe many companies use Wood Stabilizing Services, Inc. out of Iowa. I have used them several times and find their service very good. Try to get the right quantity to be stabilized to get the best cost per blank. They also can do single and double colors.

Thanks all for info so far. I will be getting in touch with these companies to see if I can get done what I need. I have a variety of woods and some would like to have dyed a certain color. May be even considered custom work.

Thanks, Keith "mrburls"
