I just want something for turning pens, and maybe bottlestoppers. Will this one work?

It'll be fine for pens and stoppers, but trust me: You'll get the itch to start turning bowls and vases some day and will have to step up.....

You might need something with a bigger motor for turning pens. It might work for tooth picks though....

No.. the guy says its stuck at 2400 RPM, but offered to drop the price a bit.

From the looks of the picture - the guy may have turned A LOT of blue pens already. See the shavings at the bottom?
Try spinning an 18" fresh cut log on that thing at 2400RPM. Just make sure your behind some sort of blast shield before firing it up.

well I think its a good buy for just starting off. Make sure you talk him down a bit you will still need at least s skew. and some blanks. but I agree you will out grow this in the first year.

Tell him you want to test it first before deciding if you want it.... and take your 'pen stuff' with you for the test.
