Ouch! got my thumb sucked between the toolrest and the bowl chuck spinning at 2000 RPM

Here are some pics, I drained the blood out by burning a hole through the nail:

Wow, sure glad I found this thread while about to start dinner![:(] Seriously, looks painful. Amazing how quickly a machine can bite you like that, you're probably lucky that it wasn't worse![:0]
 
Dang, my friends were callin my hands girly[}:)] geez guys, the least you can do is sympathize[:D][:D]

The pics cannot give you an idea of the blinding pain though, my whole arm was hurtinig at one point -my sister told me I must hit a major artery.
now its so numb I can only tell its there when I bump it, or my heart beats fast and it throbs
 
My money is saying you won't have that nail much longer. I'm glad to see it isn't even worse. I knew a guy that lost the whole finger.
It won't really hurt til you try to sleep tonight.
 
My money's with Daniel. That nail is going.
But, come on Darrick ... buck up. Your thumb is still there. Why, when I was your age I turned off a rotary lawn mower with my foot. It wasn't pretty.

Already went through that[}:)][}:)]

I passed out at 6:30 and got up at 7
the rest of the night I walked around in a howling pain.
 
I can sympathize, sort of. When I was in high school I hit my left pointer finger with a hammer trying to drive a nail through a knot I didn't know was there. I can relate to blinding pain.
 
This post should come with a warning for those of us who are wimps! After reading something about how you got the blood out [xx(][xx(](can't even remember what it said- I'm too traumatized and won't go back and look), followed by me shrieking at the picture [:0][:0][:0], I scrolled to the bottom so fast everyone else's words were just a blur. Luckily I could post from here at the bottom and not have to go back up! And then it'll take me to that pretty, calm and peaceful, almost empty page- aahhhh. [:eek:)]

But I do hope it feels better soon! [:)]
 
There are much easier ways of getting a little color in your skin. Less painful to visit AZ and get a tan.

OUCH!!!!!!![B)] will prob be a little painful to turn some pens for a few days or bowls even.
