I think our little hobby is impacting the low to mid-range pens. Yafa has pens made in china. Why not use our kits. They can make these much cheaper than we can. Since turning this hobby into a business I had to make a niche in the market. That being a handcrafted pen. Sooner or later we will see some of our higher end kits being made into pens for the likes of yafa cheaper price than we can buy the kits for.
My goal in five years it to begin make my on components for my pens. Whether I make them myself or have someone else make them for me. But I want to keep the components here (Made in the USA). But that is still five years from now.

I think you're on to something Shannon![;)]

I have to admit, Yafa has some neat stuff; like the Clock pen and the FM radio pen. But when they start selling our pens, that doesn't make me too happy. [}:)]

I'm with Billy on this. So what, if they sell them cheap. The plating will probably wear off in a couple of months and they only offer three choices for the barrel. As far as them actually being what we call a rollerball, I doubt it. A ballpoint also has a rolling ball in the tip of the refill, so they're not exactly lying. Misleading yes.

I was in Joe's Artarama this past Monday with LOML looking for painting supplies for her (Mother's day gift from LOML's son) .. they had same pens on their counter, $13.95 each.. same acrylics we see on the vendor's sites here.. we have to appeal to a very small select market for our hand made pens.. and I personally would prefer a hand made pen, even with small imperfections to the mass produced knock-offs.
