I was out making my rounds looking for wood. Took a chance and drove down a hick road and stumbled across this. At first I didn't realize what I found. I figured it was some thing good the way the wood was cut and lined up. I found out it was Norfolk Island Pine. I'm just a pen maker so it didn't hit me rite away.

Any way seems like quite a find. It looks like a wood worker must have lived hear and left it abandon. I am going to collect it and bring it home. Perhaps I could offer it to some others in the area for a small fee or trade. It appears to be in fairly good shape. Looks like it's been there a wile well seasoned a little buggy but not bad. Look at the one that is on it's side that's the side that was on the ground and I put a bucket in for scale. They are about 30" across. I counted over 30 of them and more smaller ones in the pile.

These trees are very common. I see them every ware in peoples yards.

So do you think I should collect them. I plan on joining a local wood working club in January. This should make me pretty popular.

Bruce, watch out for Al, he will raid you! [:D][;)] Seriously you have some incredible bowl blank material there. Please, offer some bowl blanks here before you start selling them on Ebay!!!!

I think I will grab it. It's only a mile away and I got a truck [:p]

A lot of it is way to big to ship so it would have to be local pick-up. But there are smaller ones in there some ware. When I get it sorted out I will offer what I can [;)]

It will be a little work moveing it but should be worth it. It will get me a good start with the club. Too bad I don't turn bowls I just got a 14" metal lathe. And can't even think about getting something bigger. I should be able to do some good trading with the other club members.

I am not interested in wood (well that's problem my yards allready full of wood) I like looking at and collecting wood tooooo much [B)]

So I will stack it in the back and it will go I'm sure [:D][:D]

There are some bugs and termites doesn't look real bad. I know with my pen blanks I think the worm holes and such make it better.
