Hey Guys, I am a brand new wood turner and I have turned two pens. Looking for a local chapter in the Valdosta area. I would love to have a seasoned turner to teach guide me through my learning period.

Hi Mike,
I have no idea if there are other pen folk down in south Georgia. I know (IAP founder) Jeff and Ed (ed4copies) have been working to get some kind of geographical lookup configured, so local folks could connect. Not sure where that stands. Meanwhile, you could check into groups in the "big cities" nearest you (Macon? J'ville?) to see if there are any turners you could connect with.
Until then, you could make the long day trip to come to the Atlanta meeting this Saturday. It's a friendly group and if you aren't shy and ask, someone will take the time to show you some basics.

Mike, I did some poking around, and your "nearby" choices seem to be Atlanta (4 hours) and Jacksonville (NE Florida - International Association of Penturners) which is a couple hours away. DennisG appears to head that Florida group - you could PM him for meeting info.
