Surgery went well on Thursday morning but after that the troubles began. The doctor says the release of all of the pressure on my spine caused me some major muscle spasms, and I still have not been able to get control of all of my functions. Cathered 5 times since Thursday, 6 supositories also. Finally got the back side to loosen up but they sent me home today with the Foley Catheter and 30 staples. So the healing process begins. PT later this week so keep your fingers crossed and I will let you know how things are going.

Interesting what they use in the present time to do the "fusions", good thinking to get a pic of the "prop" of the procedure/surgery exemplification from your specialist doctor.

How that looks so familiar...!:frown:

Hope that you recover well and quickly, it will take a little while to get thinks back to some normality but, be patient, things will be better then before, and if you lucky, you may only need small dose of pain killers instead the "horse type dosage" I'm certain you did take daily, well before the operation...!

Good luck!

Cheers
George

I had a blown disc in L4/L5, the disc was completely ruptured and had my spine pinched down to 4mm. Normal spine width in that area is 14mm. So the pain pills were coming in "horse type dosages" as you mentioned Fred. I had a laminectomy of L3/L4 10 years ago and had recently been going back to the chiropractor. Then in early February, I fell on the ice and that was all she wrote. Kept getting worse on a dialy basis.

Thanks for the kind words guys and yes, I am taking it easy as I want to get back to making some chips.

Ice and global warming in general took a toll on several friends I know. Sorry for your need for any surgical procedure, but you know the more PT you do the better it gets. I had three disc removed 1988. Bad job, by a hack. Thank God he in not still in the service anymore. Vets deserve much better than him. Took me years to return to normal but constant PT did make a world of difference for me. Good luck and we will keep you in our prayers.

Quick healing to you. It is good to hear that you have gone home. Drink lots of fluid to keep things moving. Pain meds can cause constipation so fluids and fiber will help. PT will get you moving and stretching and the muscles will respond. Glad the surgery went well and you are are the road to recovery.
