Got some great looking blanks Friday and figured with the long weekend, could get some things turned.
So much for that idea.
After cutting, drilling, etc... I glued up the tubes, and stood there wondering why is this brass STICKING OUT of both ends of the blank????
Oops, long brass, short end of the pen.
OK, so much for the figured Cherry.:(
On to the tiger striped Oak. Little rough turning, but got through it. Just watched the CA/BLO finishing video by Russ Fairfield in the IAP library and figured OK, should look good on this pen. Well, sometime tomorrow, when I find out where it landed, I will figure out how to UN-glue the blank from the bushing.:(
Eventually, this will seem funny to me, but for now, its Miller time.:D

Ron,
I've foundt hat usually the glued on bushing is not as bad as it may seem at first. i usually can break it free with a slight twist sideways with my fingers. like I'm trying to break it off the end. just till you feel it break loose. if your fingers are not strong enough. use a pair of pliers and a rag to keep from marring up the bushing. never failed to get a bushing loose yet.

I have found it best (for me any way) to score the CA at the point between blank and bushing before snapping it off. I have had the CA pull off the blank as it departed with the bushing. I just use a sharp hobby knife blade while turning at a slow speed.
