One afternoon my housework challenged husband came in and decided to wash his favorite sweatshirt.

Seconds after stepping into the laundry room, he shouted, "Honey, what setting do I use on the washing machine?"

"It depends," I replied, "what does it say on your sweatshirt?"

This must have been a joke only women understand[}:)][;)]

He wants to know what setting........She wants to know what the washing instructions tag says on the inside of neck..........he says U of O[:D]

I guess it's not that funny when you have to explain it but I know the women on the site will get it[:p]

You mean in this day and age they don't automatically detect the kinds of clothes you have in them?[?][:0] That's just absurd! Settings on my lathe and other equipment I can understand, but household appliances? You gotta be kiddin'.[}:)][:D]

Why is it called sweatshirt then?[:I]

Well now we know why us females almost always smell better than you males! [:D][:D]

But seriously, Becca I just can't tell, are people really thinking there's a part missing to this joke??? Surely the men aren't THAT ...???[:0][:0]

Hey now, not all men are laundry impaired. My mouth worked too well as a kid so I've been doing my own laundry since I was about 12. [B)]

Greg, you bring up an interesting thought I have entertained for quite sometime. Maybe Angela can interject here also.

My Mom punished me when I was young by putting me in the kitchen and learning to cook, bake etc. To this day I hate to cook, so I'm wondering if unconciousely, I assoiciate bad feelings while cooking.

Do you feel the same way about laundry since it was used as a means of punishment?

My ex-wife was laundry challenged. She washed my merino wool turtleneck on hot and then put it in the dryer on high.[:0] If I had been 3 years old, it might have fit. She also dried a Gore-Tex jacket on high.

Becca,

I'm one of the (apparently) few who internalize all things that happen and use that to reshape myself. So, no, I don't hate doing laundry because it wasn't really a "punishment". It was "if you don't like the way *I* do laundry, do your own." So I did two things: I did my own laundry and I learned to keep my mouth shut until I had thought through the possible outcomes.

Becca,
I think you are absolutely right in your suspicions. My ex used to make my oldest daughter vacuum as punishment. She's 24 and hates the vacuum. My trophy bride asked her to vacuum one time when we were getting ready for company...you would have thought she asked her to eat worms. She's my trophy wife because she yells at me if I do laundry, make dinner or wash dishes. Now, isn't she a trophy? Maybe I deserve a trophy for finding her...or an award?[}:)] Plus, she's a gourmet cook. [:p] AND she cooks to relax. Ahhhh...life is good.[:D]

some may think the bolded part was part of the signature not the punch line.

I didn't know washing machines came with settings. I sort my cloths with the dirty factor. the stuff to wash last has only been slightly worn and passed the smell factor test. [)][;)][}:)][:p]

<br />Becca and Angela,

I think I can safely assure you that most of the posts were typed with tongues firmly in cheeks.

Trust me, you tell jokes FAR better than Al [:D][;)]

As The Designer Guys (ask your wifey) would say ..... "That sounds harsh." [;)]

Incidentally, I do all of the laundry at our house. It's one of my jobs. Really.
