Woodchipper asked about turning a square blank with a skew.
This Sapele cigar is an example of a skew turned pen start to finish—nothing else other than burnishing the blank with shavings before applying the CA finish. It's a thin finish to preserve the wood look as much as possible. Topped with wax.
This is a cigar in crosscut old growth heart pine.
It's been skewed, sanded, MM'ed, CA'ed and waxed.
I love the look and texture of this wood crosscut.
It's a brittle and chippy wood being reclaimed from a home built around 1870, hence turning these is always exciting.
