Two new pens.

Woodchipper asked about turning a square blank with a skew.
This Sapele cigar is an example of a skew turned pen start to finish—nothing else other than burnishing the blank with shavings before applying the CA finish. It's a thin finish to preserve the wood look as much as possible. Topped with wax.

This is a cigar in crosscut old growth heart pine.
It's been skewed, sanded, MM'ed, CA'ed and waxed.
I love the look and texture of this wood crosscut.
It's a brittle and chippy wood being reclaimed from a home built around 1870, hence turning these is always exciting. 🤣

Looking great, suggestion on end grain you might want to try and stabilize the timber. with a, very very sharp skew cut in shear mode might help on tear out.

Thanks.
I did most of the heart pine starting with a spindle gouge followed by a couple skews. I stopped several times along the way to apply CA and hone the skew.
But, I chickened out when the ends were getting close to fit because, well, I'm still fresh from a long time not turning. So, I was chicken! 🤣
Last week, I rushed , got too aggressive and blew one of these heart pine crosscuts apart.

It's not like I don't have a bunch of it. I've got two file cabinet drawers full of this stuff! And, a bunch of 2" X 6" beams and other boards from that home.
