I'm not sure if this process is right or wrong; unique or common. But I want to share in case it's interesting.​

In 2017 I bought a cheap-o NEJE laser engraver... which is an interesting tool to use in our hobby.​

This was one of the first pens I engraved as part of a set for friends from New Mexico.

Process
(Not rocket surgery, just how I did it.)

Curly Maple glued with yellow and red card stock... representing the Zia on the NM state flag.

All these photos are from 2017 after my friends asked *how* the pens were made.
I guess part of really enjoying our hobby is to evangelize it a bit. ; )

That's pretty much the way I do it except I engraved before assembling the pen. Nice pictures showing a potential pen turner the process.
