You don't come across Laburnum very often. I was fortunate to be given a log about 4" in diameter and 12" long by a friend. The log had already been dried, and so I could go ahead and cut it up. Laburnum turns and finishes very nicely. However, any crazy grain might result in breakage on the lathe. That was the fate of my first Sierra attempt. With the second I proceeded very slowly and succeeded. Adding some thin CA might have saved the first attempt. The two examples are heartwood but very different. I have other pieces which are a mixture of heartwood and sapwood, which is off-white.
