Khampi wood

I got a "mug o blanks" from Jeff and one of the blanks says "Khampi" on it. I've never heard of it before and haven't been able to find anything on the net about it. Anybody know what it is or where it comes from? I'm guessing it's from SE Asia, but I might be a continent or two off.

khampi wood is from Laos and is a type of rosewood. khamphi-rosewood (Dalbergia cultrata) lumber from South East Asia (Laos).Hope this helps

Oh, its Dalbergia culrata. I know the scientific name but not the name "khampi".
I have lots of Dalbergia culrata and some of it has really nice colors and figure. Turns and finishes well, too.
