I spent the day today cutting down a tree in my back yard that was slowly but surely dying. I called a tree service to cut it for me and they told me it was a box elder and the limbs would break easily. For this reason they wanted to charge me extra to cut it down. After spending the day with the LOML and my brother, the tree now lies on the ground in my back yard. I found several places where the red coloring has stained the wood inside. After I get this tree processed I will finish cutting the cedar tree I have had drying for a couple of years into blanks. OH YEAH.......I still haven't finished processing the sycamore tree I cut down at my niece's house. I may soon have rent a storage to begin stocking my wood in. You go for a year without any trees available to work with and when you finally get a tree to whittle on, several of them fall in your lap rite behind them. I kinda whish they were more spaced out. Did I mention my mother has a black walnut tree she wants me to cut back for her this year. It will have to wait a month or so.

Just to be clear since I can't recall entering into a contract (yet)...what's the manager's fee/percentage cut you're expecting? :D;)[}:)]

LOL

A truly genuine fella came by today and helped me cut the box elder into manageable pieces. When he left his vehicle was a lot heavier than when he arrived LOL. I won't spoil the fun and tell you who it was. He is a member of this forum. It was nice to meet another wood cutter from this site. Hope to get with him again soon and take a first hand look at his art work. Would like to meed other turners from the area. I am a 9 to 5 employee at the job now so I have weekends off to actually get out and meet people.

Phillip,
It was a real pleasure meeting you. Thanks for the great supply of wood. After I got home, I finished cutting the larger pieces to more a manageable size and Anchor Sealed all of them. Can hardly wait until after my 2 shows so I can start turning some bowls from them. When I split 2 of them down the middle, there was some fantastic looking flame.
Thanks again.

Hank,

I would love to go but he is 360 miles away (one way) and gas prices are not cheap nowadays. Monty is much closer. Besides I don't have space to store wood now. :(

Looks like they both had a good time. It sure is nice to have someone with you when cutting lots of wood. [^]

Sorry fellas. I had two box elder trees in my back yard. One is down and the other will be coming down in a year or so. Monty has already offered his assistance and laid claim to this stock. I will also work on getting some pics and post them this weekend.
