Hi everyone! My name is Annmarie and I am pretty new at turning wood! I watched a video from PSI and decided this was for me! I have been stumbling around for a few months after my beginners luck started to wane and then I found this website with it's awesome library of information! Thank you everyone here for your willingness to help those of us who have just enough knowledge to "be dangerous". Yes, I take precautions like dust masks and eye gear.

Welcome from Toronto, Canada Annemarie! This is a great hobby and a friendly, helpful forum. What kind of pens are you interested in? Do you have a lathe and tooling yet? Have fun.. you've gotten yourself into an absorbing, addictive hobby!

I am finding out just what a friendly and helpful place this is! Thank you all for helping me through the intimidation a beginner feels when reading all the awesome things that can be created on a lathe!
For now I have only been using the fun line slimline model...however, I am experimenting with shaping the pen (other than just a straight thin pen). I have a Jet 10" variable speed lathe. It's enough for now. Between that and scrolling (a Dewalt scroll saw), I am just loving the smell of wood! :)
