I've seen a lot of snake skin blanks but has anyone ever cast the rattler from a rattlesnake for a pen blank? I think it would look pretty cool as long as you could get one large enough. Is there a source for rattles?

Getting one small enough is the real problem. Lots of large one out there. I've tried several times and, being hollow they ten to hold large amounts of air. I too think it may look cool but I decided I didn't want to spend any more effort on them. Go for it and I hope you have success.
Do a good turn daily!

Problem would be the tube and the thickness of the rattle itself as the ones I got are over 1/8" thick and you would have to split each connection between each cell or joint( have no idea what they are called have a couple in a box some were in the shop. drawing a mental blank currently on their location.
Unless you used a short tube and refill and cast a solid blank. You still would have to either fill the cells or flatten them before casting with pressure or vacuum I would thing.

Maybe this.Drill through lengthwise a little smaller where the tube will be.Cast vertical with PR to slow down the set up.Vacuum, then preasure.I don't know the interior of a rattle.
