July Meeting topic and date

How would everyone like a demo on making closed end pen mandrels? Which we can follow up the next meeting with pens we've made with them.
The next meeting will be held at Woodcraft on Sunday July 8th from 1-3.
I'll see if we can use on of the mini lathes to demonstrate the mandrels use.

I like the "homework" idea. To show how I do it I'll need a lathe with a chuck or just a 8x1" thread and I can bring mine to show how I made my mandrel.

We thought about pictures, but the guy doing the demo wasn't very photogenic. :biggrin: Just so you know for the next meeting you need to make a closed end pen to show.

Yes, it happened and the presentation was very good. I learned a lot and went out and purchased two bolts to try to make the closed end mandrel. I like the idea of having homework and encouraging us to do a closed end pen for the next meeting. I just need to figure out which pen style to try.
Chris made it look simple. I forgot to write down the name of the vender for the Delrin. Could someone let me know? Thanks
