Found out yesterday that my new JET 1442 that I have been waiting on for 3 weeks will not be in until the end of JUNE. I can't believe a top company like that has that kind of service. I finally talked the manager at WoodCraft to let me have the one off the floor. Never been turned on and has all the parts and paper work. JUNE can you even imagine?

It's a screamin' deal right now through Woodcraft. It's 300 bucks less than Amazon, which often has the best prices anywhere. You ain't the only one in line on this one. Sometimes ya gotta wait...but it sounds like it worked out fine for you.

Disappointment? Yes. But to get outraged over? No. Big company or not, they must wait on delivery just like any other company. Your lathe is, literally, going to come on a slow boat from China. Production there is what determines whether something is in stock or not. Being disappointed is justified, knocking the company is not.

From what I have been seeing the global economy has been causing many shortages on products. For example, I have gotten into photography (big hole in wallet now) and Canon has slowed done production dramatically. There just wasn't a demand so manufactures cut back on production. Now, the most desired products are all back ordered. And, this has been going on for months.

You'll get it. And when you do, you will forget it all when you are standing there with shavings flying around! Lets just home they maintain their quality and reputation.

It's worth the wait. I love mine! One other thing, the Jet customer service more than makes up for the amount of time you have to wait. I called them just the other day and I spoke with a guy who literally began taking apart a 1442 to see if he could get a solution to my question. Now that's service!!!

I have owned the Jet 1442VS for over 2 years now, it's a great machine!! You will love it. What are they going for at woodcraft? I drove to Rochester to get mine at a woodcraft as well and paid $799 during a sale. Still running true to this day. :)

Wow Darin, I wish prices could go back in time. Regular price now is 1249. I got 10% off.
I picked the display model up today. They helped me load it, but I had to unload and carry everything down the basement steps when I got home. I thought I was going to rupture something getting the bed down to the basement, but I think I came through it pretty much unscaved. The display had heavy duty casters on it so I just bought them also. I hope it dosen't bother the stability of it later on. I was able to roll the two leg sections pretty much all the way to the top of the basement steps and since the steps are carpeted I just layed them down and slowly slid them down the steps. The bed though had to be carried all the way to the top of the steps. I haven't done any lifting like that in a while. The head assembly was almost as bad. I had to carry it all the way to the work bench in the basement. I don't know how much each piece weighed but another pair of hands would have been nice.
