Hi all, does anyone know where I can get a jet black or even pearled black acrylic blank from? It will need to be cut pretty thin, and I don't want to risk seeing the tube.

I have now made three attempts on my LTD Ed Emp that I won in the B'bash. One was a a nice coco from Jeff's Mug-o-blanks, I ruined the finish and sanded too much. Second was a dark burl ( I think ) that was marked 9217 ? Wrecked that finish too. Just finished with a 'tobacco' acrylic and it looks c*^p.:(
Now I want to try just black.

Any other suggestions welcome.

And no, I'm NOT sending it to ANYONE!!!:D:D

I've gotten solid black from Berea I think. I know I have at least one sitting in my basement. To make sure it comes out solid black though, you'd still want to color the tube.

You could try Ebonite from http://www.Pipemakers.org It stinks like crazy when it is turned (smells like burned rubber), but it is jet black and opaque. It polishes up pretty well, too. I think there are some pics in the albums.

Steve, Berea do a jet black blank as mentioned its number is AA-25, i don't know if you could squeeze an Emperor out of one as they are 3/4 square by 5 inches.
I got a load by Ernie at Bear Toth a while back for a prototype i am working on, if will have a look tomorrow if i have any spare if you want to try one.

Berea has a plain black blank, CSUSA does not. I've used the Berea blank and didn't paint the tubes, but it never hurts to paint them.

I used to sell Delrin. Some folks made pens from it. Easy to turn and polish. Very tough material, some made theirs without tubes. Just drill to the inside diameter of the tubes. Sorry, mine is all gone and I'm happy to be out of the Delrin business.

I've done an Emperor with Berea's AA-25 black. Though there's no room for error when drilling.

Thanks all for such quick replies[:D]

Andrew, if you do have any spare, I will gladly buy it/them from you.

Now that I've seen Lance's pen, I'm sure black is the right choice.

Thanks Guys
