Jet 1014vs can't turn off

My power switch won't click into the off position anymore, it is stuck on. Any suggestions for me.

Push in on the toggle as you try to turn on and off. Sometimes that will reset the contacts. Been there done that. Or change the switch out. They are not expensive. It is the abuse they take. Need a heavy duty switch.

Could also try hitting it with compressed air. The old switch on my father's lathe would start working again for a while after doing that.

Seconding the replacing switch idea for the long run, though.

Replace.... those switches are not expensive.

On an older lathe, it may be best to replace the toggle. You can get parts from Jet or other sites like eReplacement Parts and will likely be in the $50-100 range not knowing exactly what you need.

I concur with everyone else, replace the switch. Most DIY stores like Menards and Home Depot carry 20 Amp toggle switches if you don't care about ordering an exact replacement. All you should need to do is figure out the thru-hole size so you can get something that will fit. I wouldn't expect it to cost more than $5 to $10 even for a good brand name like Gardner Bender. - Dave
