I just sold my Turncrafter Pro,and I was looking at the Jet VS mini lathe. Where is the cheapest place that sells them? Is the Delta VS any better? I want a VS mini lathe. I know I want a Jet or a Delta. Thanks ahead![?][?]

I couldn't resist a Paul martney reference with that setup

Oh man, your timing is awful... Jet just had a big price increase last month. The 1014VSi is running $450 or more just about everywhere, while I got one at Woodcraft in March on sale for $329. It's a great lathe, though. If you can wait a couple months, you might see them discounting the new prices if they don't see the sales numbers they need.

Craft Supplies has a VS Jet Lathe for approximately $369.00 plus shipping. You should check out their web site.
Cindy:)
Wow. I just looked it up on their site. They're still showing the VS Mini at $329.99 (their product number 092-0150) plus $45 ground shipping. That is an outstanding price, if they can really give it to you. It may be that they just haven't posted the price increase on their site yet, but I'd grab one NOW if you can get it.

GO with the JET

Check Menard's too.

Don't know if they carry it, or if it just happened to be in the one in Racine, before the store renovation. Worrh looking - they ARE cheap.

I bought one of our lathes at General Industrial Supply in Nashville. It was factory reconditioned and I got it for a bit more than $100 less than retail. They likely don't ship, but an internet search on your area might turn up something similar.

Couple of ideas: check craig's list for your area and check w/ some of the stores that have them as demo's or classes and see if they are willing to sell you one of their gently used ones.

I stopped by the Birmingham Woodcraft to check on the Rikon lathes - not only did they not have any but the price has gone up $100 since last month. Same thing with the Jets - the VS was @ $450! And to think that in April they were 10% off of the $329 price, AND with a $25. rebate.

I just placed an order tonight with Craft Supplies for the Jet 1014 variable speed which was still listed in stock for $329+$45. shipping. I'll let you know if my order gets kicked back tomorrow.

The clerks at Woodcraft in Birmingham, AL. said everything from China was jumping up in price and was eradic as far as availability. Welcome to global inflation...!

Just got my new Nova 1624 today. Maybe I didn't buy at the right time. I usually wait until after the price increases! This is not like me!

I'm reporting back that I did in fact receive a Jet 1014VSi lathe as Craft Supplies is showing still for $329.+$45 shipping. Nice piece of equipment!

I just ordered my lathe today. It's the Jet 1014VS. Got it from CSUSA. I had to back order it. They expected it to get it in around June 10. Hopefully it gets to my place before June 19. I have a show I'm gonna take it to.:)[:p]:D[8D][:I][}:)];)[)][B)][8]:([8)][:0]:([xx(][|)][:X][^][V][?]:D

Got a little carried away.:D:D:D:D:D
