This will be our 23rd meeting (If my calculations are correct). The meeting will be hosted by Ronnie Hallsell in Maumelle. Ronnie has a Shopsmith lathe that we can use for demos. If anyone can bring a small lathe (Dave . . . . hint hint), then I will do another kitless demo. If not, we'll work it in at another meeting.

Ronnie will supply the food, but everyone should bring something to drink. He's planning on making breakfast for the meal.

Does anyone have an idea for the trade? I know we normally do a pen, but we've had a few themed trades in the past. One several years ago was "Not a Pen". We also done the modified slimline trade. Ideas anyone?

Details and directions will follow in the coming weeks, but mark the date on your calendars.

I will not be able to make this one. My daughter has a gymnastics meet in Bentonville that weekend. We will be there for that and visiting family in Fayetteville for that weekend.

Directions to Hallsell's shop. Exit 142 off I40 and go West about 1 mile on hwy 365 to traffic light. Turn right at traffic light and continue for about 1 mile on hwy 365 to Garot Road. Turn right on Garot Road. Go about one mile to T intersection of Garot Road and Panther Mountain Road. Fifth house on left 10409 Panther Mountain Road, Maumelle, Ar 72113. Phone 501-912-5636. Shop is behind house, blue metal building with silver roof.

Pen meeting from around 10am to around 2pm. Also, let's do a pen trade for those who have a pen to trade of a value not to exceed $10. Since my shopsmith is out of order. Hopefully someone can bring a lathe. I would like to know the suppliers that you use. I have started a list that includes web addresses.

3rd post. I have a wood burning cook stove in my shop. For lunch I plan for us to cook eggs, bacon, and biscuits. Should have sorghum cookies for dessert. Will have cokes, tea, water and coffee.

That is about 4 miles from my house, I'm excited to get into the fold. What time will this be happening?

Meeting usually starts around 10 a.m. and lasts till around 2 p.m. (someone correct me if I'm wrong)

BTW I plan to be there. This looks like an exciting meeting with demonstrations that I need.

I'll be bringing one guest maybe two. I'll bring my stuff to do a ca finish also.
Got to get my swap pen done. Can we do anything for the va this meeting? That sure is random thoughts huh? Looking forward to seeing everyone. Ted:)

I spoke to my friend Randall and he asked if a friend could attend with him. He is a woodworker but doesn't make pens. (Yet). I told him he was welcome. The more the merrier. That means I will have three guests. Hope all can attend. I'll try to let Ronnie know if anything changes. Five more days. See y'all then. Ted:)

Thanks.....

Thanks Ronnie for hosting the meeting Saturday...Good job on the demo Ted....I intend to start using the short brass tubes on the 7mm kits instead of the Delrin bushings...My carry pen this week is going to be the "blue jean" cigar...nice pen..I like the PITH...I always get a nice pen..Well the sirens went off Ted!! We had multiple warnings, hail, rain, & wind untill about 9:30....

I would like to thank Ronnie also for the great food and the opportunity to use his shop for our meeting. Was good to see everyone and to meet new people. Looking forward to the next meeting already. Happy turning, Ted:)

ca demo

Bob, thanks for pointing out that mine is the only "right" way to do ca. Even if Ken don't do it right his demo looked really good to me. I've got to try his way. Cuts out lots of steps and looks just as good. We're about to have supper that looks like our lunch yesterday. Love me some breakfast foods!!
Later, Ted:)

Glad you guys had a good time. Thanks for sharing the photos. Did you set up the next meeting date/place before you ate Bob's good cooking?

We're looking at a few dates, and want to avoid having it the same weekend as the Little Rock pen show. But plan on late March, or early April at my house. I'll post more when a date is finalized.

And for the record, I just kept the eggs from burning. Ronnie did 99% of the cooking, I was just his helper.
