I have seen several pens on Instagram recently that use ivory cellulose. Has someone sold their hoard recently? Is there a source for this material?

Link? You may be seeing modern production ivory celluloid that American Art Plastics (now defunct) produced back a few years ago. One of the former owners still sells it occasionally at pen shows.

This was a crosscut piece I used a while back. I can't say I enjoyed it. I had shrinkage issues even after I rough turned/drilled it and let it sit, and it stains really easily.

Here is one by tuduriya. I have seen several others that threaded. Not possible with the VF rod.

Even with a threading jig that some use on wood?
I've single-point threaded it just fine with a sharp tool; however, the brittleness of the material is a turn-off for me for use on threaded parts since the wall thickness of these parts on pens is typically pretty thin, so there's a good chance of the material breaking during use.

I can't say. I'm not set up to thread that way and would prefer not to have to.
I contacted the maker on instagram and he got his from Alibaba. I find that site very clunky but found it on Etsy. It appears to be Arvorin. Made for cue makers and claims to be thread able. I am going to order some and see.

I'm going to venture and say it's the same stuff that Vermont freehand sells. He claims it's threadable as well.
Ordered 4 sticks. I'll be able to make a direct comparison. I tried threading his and it didn't go well. Checked his site and there is no mention of threading in the product description.

Here is another example. This one is supposed to be celluloid. Even rarer and would be more than I am willing to spend if it was available.
