Steve,

Tell me you got that over the phone on sale for 60 bucks, versus 80 bucks online. I just happened to call them 2 weeks ago to see why they never have coupons anymore, and they had the same pot for 60 bucks, but not online.

I hate that. But I bought it anyway, because my scruples stop at my credit card.

Steve,
Do you mind sharing how you got a 20% coupon? I can't remember the last time one was in the catalogs, and I can't find one online either. That's always a good deal, I just haven't seen them for a while.

Thanks,
Dale

This is now setting in my shop
waiting to be reworked.

Ah .. welcome to the Dark Side.

First thing, get a cutoff tool and get rid of that long tube inside. I don't
think it will come off any other way. (Use goggles, those sparks fly!)
Then take off every fitting and apply Teflon tape before re-tightening.
A little dish soap and water applied to every fitting will show any remaining
air leaks when you charge it up. Just follow the bubbles.

Ok, so where are the pics of your homebrew blanks?
Are they ready yet?
What about now? No?
Ok, what about now?

I should be getting mine in Jan or Feb when the tax return comes back. Wish it was sooner. But I have been waiting a year now so what is a few more months lol.

OK it is tore down.
Was able to get the tube on the inside out.
Only going to set it up for pressure for now
so that will save. We sell brass pipe fittings
at the place I work so will make a list pick it
up Monday or maybe over the weekend.
I have a new very good regulator so will
use it and have a few gauges so that will
help.

If you have a tubing cutter, that would be better than a grinder or other cuttoff tool for removing the center tube. Much safer!

Definitely safer, but it's hard to get in there .So with a tubing cutter you
might leave a longer tube.. which is fine unless you'll need the height later on.
Some people put shelved in the pot and do several levels at once.
But the tube cutter or pipe cutter is definitely safer

Why not just unscrew it? I have modified 2 HF post and unscrewed both of them. It was a little difficult but not bad at all. If you need to, you can always heat it a little with a torch and it will come right out.

Just apply some heat to the joint and it will be easier to unscrew...not too much heat or it can damage the gasket.

I was afraid of ruining the gasket. I tried taking the tube out, but even with a wrench
and a vice, it didn't want to come out. So I cut it off

I did not have a problem getting the tube out.
Just a 18" pipe wrench and hang on tight.
Had one leak replaced an o'ring on one of
the connections on the lid.
So far 3 hours and holding 40 lb.
