January was one of my biggest months in a few years. Three large shipments but things calmed down in February...or so I thought. Three birthdays, Valentines Day and a special gift for my son yet to be started. So I thought I shared this with everyone else.

Photo one: Birthday gifts/Valentines gifts

My daughter was born on Feb 13th so she gets the travel Crochet Kit from PSI and the Scissors set. The Crochet travel kit is at the top of the photo as is the scissors set. The Crochet kit was done in stabilized Serviceberry that I harvested from our home in the Rocky Mountains. The scissors kit was done in Linden...sorry, long story so if you want to know how I got it you'll have to ask.

My son in law was born on Feb 9 so he gets the knife done in Linden (that's the knife at the top of the picture).

The Scissor kit is a Valentines gift for my wife who was the one to inspire me to make them. After she saw, and wanted one, I sent a sample to my customer in Hawaii with some very plain Koa and he sold the set in less than 24 hours. This kit was done in stabilized Walnut Burl. So a new item Hawaii bound.

The photo below is this year's Veterans Drawing at the annual Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation banquet. A Skinner done in Serviceberry from the Rocky Mountains and a Pen with a special sentiment. I think this is the 8th year I've donated to this drawing.

The photo below is my pride and joy. The large knife with the sheath was done in Amboyna Burl with a Pacific Sapphire crushed Opal inlay. This knife took almost 80 hours to finish and is the first stamped sheath I've ever done. This knife is truly a custom knife as the blank was a limited run and I got to buy 40 out of 200 of the blanks. The designer passed shortly before the production run was completed so this knife is no longer available anywhere. I'm pretty stoked to have gotten in on this deal. This knife will go into my personal collection. The small folder is a Raptor folder and is my second best selling pocket knife, it's done in Redwood Burl.
BTW, my birthday's on the 14th of this month. So the knife is a birthday gift to myself!

Very Cool Stuff! - I hear you about the special. I was always planning to buy some of the Manzanita and Buckeye Burl from Rocky Bemis, but I just kept buying more of his Redwood Lace Burl instead. I think of him often as one of the everyday desk pens by my computer was made from his Redwood. - Dave

You've been very busy, Tom and everything is excellent.
I had to look up 'Serviceberry'. I know it as Amelanchier and planted a number of them some years ago in my garden.
Happy birthday for the 14th,!!!

Very nice work Tom. I love the inlays on the knives, really sets off the handles. Btw, nice stamp job on the sheath. It gives character to the leather. Nice job!!
That's a first for me Bobby, the stamping on the leather. I don't know how many test pieces I did before settling on this design. I wanted the design to hi-lite the work on the blade handle without distracting from it. Thanks for the compliment.

Really great work!

My birthday is also the 14th! Happy birthday to us!
Happy Birthday. Valentines day has always been a curse for me. I got teased a lot by family and friends growing up and in the Navy a lot of fights over it too. Someone would say "Happy Birthday Valentine" and I'd come uncorked. Problem was it was always the bigger guys who said it so learned pretty quick to just to accept it.
