My wife and I are hooked on casting. We still have tons to learn. It is great to get her involved in the pen making. Our next show, I'm going to have a special display with pens from her castings. Thanks for all the help that I received here. Here are some samples.

Brian,

Looks good so far! What are you using for coloring? I used PR Pigments for quite some time until I discovered Mica Powders. They work great!

Now you have to show some on a finished product...

These are all with Mica powder. Where did you get your PR pigment? Sometimes, we would like to have a solid color. I'll post a few pictures soon.

I get them locally at the same place that I buy my PR. If you can't find any, let me know and I will check the prices and let you know what they cost. I know they last FOREVER.

PM me if interested.

Wow! Nice.

Solid pigments are normally just sold as "PR pigment." You can get them on eBay, or even car body repair shops. I'd be surprised if your PR supplier doesn't stock them.

How did you do the one on the bottom row, second from left?

This weekend I did some comparison shopping.
A gallon of Clear Cast was $92.95 at Dick Blick (art supply store).
A gallon of Silmar 41 from US Composites was $53 including shipping.
My Silmar should be here on Thursday. Worth the wait.
The difference paid for the PearlX from Dharma Trading.

The second one from the left was a test blank. When I drill other blanks, I get the normal curlies from the drill process. I have been saving those in a cup and cast them in white PR. I haven't turned one yet. I will post the results.

Wow they must of raised the price big time. Only paid $35 a gallon for it last year. I may have to rethink my pricing structure if it has gone up that much.
