Alright guys, a friend of a friend of a friend of a (etc.) has asked me about my pens and wants me to make one for his company. We're all into trucks and automotives and such and he wants the business logo in the pen. I messaged Ed at Exotics but figured I would ask this here as well.

He wants a wood pen with an aluminum logo (if it's possible) or a wooden logo of contrasting color.

My idea was to somehow cast a background of some kind and wrap the image around it and hide the seems. I'm not sure how I want to do this but i'm looking for ideas! This isn't a rush but I want to get things inching forward. I'd like to employ a forum member if this has to be done outside of my hands.

I vote for a wooden pen, laser engraved logo, back fill the logo with silver if that is what is needed
 
I have no idea if it would work it will toss the idea in for thought.

The aluminium foil tape used to seal ducts etc. Could be Laser cut to the logo shape. Wrapped around a painted tube or turned undersized wood or acrylic blank. Finally cast in a clear resin and turned to final size.

Your other option is to get some aluminium blanks from someone like JohnnyCNC (appologies if the spelling is wrong) and make metal pens.

I'll keep that in mind Curly, that way it would be reflective like chrome but I wonder if the laser would burn it? Hmmm....
 
Why not reach out to Constant here on the forum? He should be able to work something up for you depending on your budget. You should be able to reach him via PM on the forum or visit his site ( http://www.lazerlinez.com/ ). That guy can make A.N.Y.T.H.I.N.G...for real!

I wouldn't give up and the wooden pen with aluminum/metal logo just yet! Constant (lizerlinez.com) is back in town with a new "hot rod" cutter. I look for some more great and unique things to come from his shop VERY SOON!
 
I was trying to find that site! I'm not sure MY skills are up to par to be turning aluminum + wood and pull it off perfectly for a customer. Worth a shot though!
