Is there a difference?

I am currently using casting craft pr from hobby lobby and am thinking about trying silmar 41 due to the huge price difference. Just how similar or different are they from each other?

Both are clear polyester casting resins. There may be differences in formulation and the promoters used, but the two are about as close to interchangeable as you can get.

I don't think there's any huge difference. The main one is that the Silmar 42 is poured fresh from the pot when it's ordered. As far as casting them I treat both the same.

I use the casting craft resin to make just colored blanks and the silmar 41 for tube on cast. The CC resin tends to shrink in size just a bit has been my experience.

Watch for a 50% off coupon from one of the craft stores. Most other stores will honor that coupon at their own store. Freshness of the product would be my only consern, as the two are very much alike. Jim S

That's what I was hoping for. Thanks for the info. I have been using the 40% coupon from their app every time I get some, but it still costs a lot more. Now to save up for a gallon to play with.

Try Alumilite. Premium stuff, with a premium price, but with premium results.
