There are presently over a dozen wildfires burning in Southern California, and I know we have a few members here. So, speak up, people, are you all safe, are you threatened by the fires, or in imminent danger of loss? Let us know--we're concerned for your safety.(I say this because I am in Pomona, and I can smell the fire in the air, sky is brown, ashes are covering cars here, and with my COPD, going outside for any extended period is out of the question. I know there are a few of you closer to the fire areas, and am thinking about all of you.)

Hope everyone is safe. I am at working right now and I operate the Southern California pipeline systems for my company. I do know there are fires in the area of Piru, Torrey, which is not to far from Santa Paula right now. 3 of my stations have been shut down due to the fires. Some of the guys out in the field have been calling in and saying they are having winds at times gust up to around 80 miles per hour. Just remember there is nothing material in your homes worth your life. (This coming from former Law Enforcement).

Shannon,

I'm in Lake Forest - about 3 miles from the Santiago fire. We can see the flames flaring up, and there is a lot of smoke, but it hasn't hit any houses yet. Some friends had to evacuate and are spending the night with us, but everyone is doing fine. Thanks for asking, and keep the firefighters in your prayers.

Steve

Bellflower is fine. Nowhere near the fires but plenty of smoke and soot. I've got 4 buddies from church on the fire lines now. They're the ones I'm worrying about.

Smoke, Soot, and concern for lots of friends. Yeah, I'm in Riverside. We're surrounded by fires. Yesterday when the latest one kicked up by Lake Arrowhead the outside air was almost unbreathable. but things have calmed down a lot. I'm wondering about all those in the San Diego area? I hear Qualcom Stadium is filling up. Hope your all okay.

Of course, the chances of those who had to evacuate posting any time soon isn't great. I wish you all the best!

Live in Highland at the foot of the mountains. Just smoke and ash for us. Our civic center and the Orange show fairgrounds in San Bernardino have many of the evacuees from the mountains. Our Youth pastor lives in the mountains, is on vacation this week and doesn't know if his home survived or not.

To all of our friends in So Cal. I have been evacuated and have worked traffic control at many fires. The time is now to prepair to evacuate. Think about what you will want to take with you. Be it documents or family photo's. Change of clothing for every family member. Phone numbers of family or friends. Put them in a suitcase now. Sucure your pets, they will be very scared and will run if given the chance. Have them in crates or on a leash. Have food and water for them.
During one fire, my wife and I went to bed and the fire was many miles away. At 3AM a police car went through the neighborhood telling everyone to evacuate now. I got up and observed a wall of fire coming down a hill behind our home. The fire got to within a 150 feet of our home. Thanks to some very brave fire fighters all of the neighbood was saved. A few chared patio covers was all.
Next thing, PLEASE DON'T GO TO THE FIRE AREA'S TO LOOK. If there is an evacuation, people have to get out now, you only get in the way.
Be safe.

Forgot to include to plan ahead. Have a common location for family members to meet if seperated. Have a common family member to call (out of the fire area) to relay messages. keep cell phones charged. Keep our idenification and credit cards on you at all times. Have some cash. There are many more tips for safety, this is just a few. Good luck to all.

Having lived in Southern California for over twenty years I can really feel for the situation. I have gone through only one fire in Highland, Ca. where the fire circled the hill I lived on. At Anaheim, Ca. I had serious ash "rain" three or four times. I pray that all members and their families are not in harms way. Just keep a cool head and listen to the authorities and the radio if applicable. Good luck to all.

I was born and raised in San Pedro, CA for the first 37 years of my life.I'll always be a Californian at heart. I've seen alot of fires out there but they say this is the worst. Stay safe everybody.

I sure hope you are all still safe, I have been watching the fires on tv here, and feel for you all.[:(]
I will try to send you some of our British weather shall I?[;)]
Rain Rain and More Rain.[:p]
You all will be in my prayers and thoughts.
