My local Lowes has an IR thermometer on sale for $19.98. YMMV Probably the same quality as most cheaper ones +-2 degrees but still. No affiliation with Lowes... Just posted this as there was a recent post suggesting the use of an IR thermometer to check temperatures on resin before pouring.
 
I picked one up and am using it for paving projects to check the asphalt temps before being placed. It callibarates very close to the contractors 200$ Fluke. I'm real happy with it.
