Hello To All!

This looks like a great hobby and some of the pens I have seen are incredibly impressive.
I have never done any lathe work in my 60 years of hobbies but indulge myself in YouTube and came across pen turning. I do some woodworking and have more equipment than I need but that all seems to come into play here, except my mortiser šŸ¤£
I recently picked up a Rikon 105 "pen lathe" specifically to make pens. Will see how that goes (I like it but what do I know) I was debating over the Jet 1221 (read it all) but always buy more than I need so decided to start mini and see how this evolves. Aware of the deep hole hobbies lead into.
I have played around a bit and made a handful of pens. Here is the first pen I ever made.
I have a supply of lumber and the scrap pile box came up with maple.
I made some Jatoba pens as well.
I am starting with friction finish (Pens Plus) and wood for now.
Grabbed a few small boards of Rosewood and Leopard wood for blanks at woodcraft to try next. Have a few pen kits left and
have some different pen kits coming so will continue on the journey.
I realize I have unlimited things to try. I know my next learning step will be CA finish but will be awhile before I get there.

Welcome Rich, to the best pen making site on the net, full of inspiration and ideas. Lots of good people here. We're all still learning so don't be shy. It is an endless rabbit hole. Lol
Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
