Hi,

I just joined. Fairly new to turning and pens as well. So far I've just done two complete pens and 5 or so bowls but plan on more. I took a class that showed me how to do decals, casting, and ca finishing and I think I'm hooked. So far, I've made the wallstreet II's and ordered some sierra for the copper ones. I love being able to do 2 pens with one blank but I am definitely looking to do other styles.

You guys have a great howto section and I've downloaded alot of the pdf's. It's kinda funny, when I first saw pen turning I couldn't understand paying so much for kits and hardware and blanks just for a pen until I made my first one.

Good to see you on the forum. This is a great place for information, sharing and receiving. There are also quite a few vendors on this site to order kits and blanks. I know you will enjoy the community.
 
Hey. You sure can get a serious condition from turning your first pen. Kits, hardware and blanks are the least of your $$ concerns. Wait 'til you get into special bushings, tools, sharpening systems... When you start to sell your work - you can start buying the really expensive stuff.
