I've tried it and can only say it will make your next ink cartridge cost you $70. $20 for the refill kit and $50 for the cartridge you should have just gone ahead and bought in the first place. from what I have learned you can refill one but if you get any air at all the cartridge is ruined. I've never figured out how to keep the air out.

I pay about $13 - $17 for refills at the local "Cartridge World" they give a free refill after ten purchases and stand behind their product.

If you have a Walgreens drug sore near you they refill black cartridges for 10.00 and color for 15.00. I have several cartridges that's been refilled 5 or 6 times already.

Used to do this years ago when I had a Lexmark printer, what a night mare, never really worked well and it was messy. Now I have an Epson printer and buy my ink refills (no-name) online for a fraction of the cost of the original ink.

I switched to Kodak printers. New black cartridges are $10 and new color cartridges are $15. The cartridges last as long (possibly even longer) than the Dells that were replaced. Quality is excellent. The Kodak prints the best photos I have ever seen from a home printer.

And the test them to make sure the refill is a good one and if not they tell you the refilled cartridge should not be used. I use them regularly and have had no problems. Even the two cartridges I was told did not pass their testing worked fine.
Do a good turn daily!

Tom,
In reality it will depend on what printer you have... I did refills when I had Lexmarks.. worked fine and with care not too messy. We are now using an Epson and and HP printer.. the HP specifically says not to refill the cartridges.. and we have bought a replacement cartridge that was not an HP cartridge... No joy... it didn't work in the printer, even though it looks exactly like the HP, just an off brand..
I do buy the after markets for my Epson via either Printpal or other on line ink sales... they seem to work fine. BTW, I live in very small town and closest Brick and Mortar store that I can find cartridges at is 45 miles away in Knoxville.. so I buy online.

You're comparing some apples, couple oranges and a pineapple or two.

Inkjets are liquid
"Laser" are, usually, powder
Some use photoconductors in their "cartridges"
Some don't
Buy rebuilt or aftermarket - cheaper and will, usually, work.

Some HP printers have a counter in them, so even if it was a refilled HP
cartridge, the printer would not use the ink because the cartridge reads as
empty.

Toner is just as bad. If your cartridge will print '5000 prints' and you print out
4999 blank pieces of paper, you have one print left, no matter how much
toner is actually left in the cartridge. The printer will not print.

Somewhere in the fine print I'm sure it says that you're not buying the ink
so much as 'permission' to make a certain number of prints.

But on a printer that will allow you to fill your own ink, I've never had
a problem, and this is going back to the late 1980's. Be careful, don't buy
cheap inks (look up reviews online first) and make yourself a work area
with wax paper of newspaper just in case.

If I had been smart, I would have invested in ink ages ago. Someone told
me that buying new ink cartridges.. they get something like $60,000.00
per gallon of ink ..

I have refilled cartridges for HP and Cannon printers and had good results. It does require a little manual dexterity and if you mess up, you really do have a mess!!!

If you don't do a lot of printing, I think the remanufactured cartridges from places like Walgreens are probably the best choice. if you do a lot of printing, it might be worth your while to try refilling. It works for some and others aren't so successful.

Other thing to do is check out eBay. There are lots of good auctions for ink cartridges. I've even bought a few that were out of date and they worked just fine.

Ya, don't even got me going on the prices of printer inks. What a scam!

That said, I do have the canon refill kit for my new MP600. Even after following instructions and a reset the printer still can't figure out if the cartridges are "charged" or empty.
