I am looking for a good single tube twist pen that has the following:
1. Longer than sierra and clones, so over 2.21".
2. Has a decent shoulder. (This would exclude kits like the "executive")
3. Not themed.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Jason

Take a look at Lazerlinez Liberty kit, 2.21" with 27/64 brass tube..made in USA, all stainless. Really good quality kits for $17.00.

Not sure if these are available over there, but the Polaris timber section is 2.8". Maybe the photo will help to see if this style is available (probably under a different name).

Cheers, Gary

Gary, the Polaris is indeed available in this part of the world. . It sometimes gets called Carbara. . And possibly another name also (Atlas ?).

It is with some hesitation, bearing in mind your word "good", that I humbly note the existence of the following .....

In addition to the Polaris, PSI has these: .... Duchess .... Falcon .... Crown Jewel

I have tried all of these (once only) except the Crown Jewel. . The Polaris is ok, but don't care for the styling.

I would be inclined to look at Berea, but they don't have their website as conveniently indexed as PSI does, so that would involve more work.

And the Dayacom website is quite hopeless to search. . And I am fairly sure CSUSA doesn't have anything.

If only some manufacturer would break with tradition and design a nice twist pen kit similar to Sierra but with barrel close to 3" long.
I once suggested this to Beaufort Ink around the time they came out with the "Sirocco", but they stuck with 2.21".

You can make one any length you want by modifying a slimline! (I just made 4 single tube modified slimlines yeaterday). Not sure what you mean by "decent shoulder"

Professor/Exemplar
GT Knurl (above)
ProX
Patriot (mentioned above)
Southwest Mesa
Majestic ( I think)

The shoulder is the distance from the tube to the outside of the finished pen at the hardware.

Knurl GT sounds like it might be a possibility.

Approximate Shoulder:
KnurlGT - .127
Prof/exemplar/executive - .075 This is way to skinny for my segmenting
Sierra - .093
Polaris (I also don't like the look of it) - .15

Jason, now that you have specified some numbers, it would seem that what you are calling the shoulder is actually double what I would specify.
At least that's how I read the numbers. . In your immediately preceding post you give your definition of "shoulder" which actually agrees with mine

Also, I would like you to have a look at the pen kit called the "Capstone" on the website ... www.penblanks.ca ... and tell me how you like it.

I know that pen kit vendor does not ship to the USA .... but there are ways around that ;) ;)

It is a kit which is carried by no other "main" vendor that I know of and I don't know the original source. . I have tried it and it seems very sound, except possibly for the clip, but the clips on many pen kits are somewhat questionable, IMHO.

A couple of the old Smitty models come to mind,,, now carried by exotic blanks:

A 2.5" bodied Sierra Clone on a 9,5mm tube for extra "shoulder" (Le Roi LB V2):

A Polaris clone, perhaps more visually appealing than the namesake:

That's an Interesting looking kit. What is the black at the end?

@Aces-High

The black end is a stone of sorts, I think ... not positive but looks like it and that's consistent with the name "Capstone".

In preparing this week's Sunday email, I became aware of the Yari, made for Berea, which we also sell.
Body length is over 2.5 inches, 3/8" drill bit and a fair amount of material left. Also will be on special at Exotics in the next couple hours, for the next week..

That's funny, I saw your email and thought of this thread!
