I had knee surgery on Tuesday (arthroscopic, not that big a deal but for the fact it's the 6th one on the same knee) and can't get in to my shop. I tried to go out yesterday and caught my foot on one of the kids scooters and damn near did a faceplant onto the garage floor, so decided the couch is my friend.

I've been plugging new pens into my web site, but that's almost as much fun as the surgery. Some people love computer stuff, I don't. I use clicpic, which although it's a very cool end product, it's fussy to deal with. For me. A computer moron.

Anyway, I love golf and Tiger came back yesterday and kicked the stuffing out of that poor Aussie! I was thrilled. Not that he beat up on an Aussie, but that he is back and strong. My first born was born the day Tiger won his first major, Sunday, April 13, '97, and I was convinced it was a sign. I told the Doc there was an extra 20 in it if he got it done by tee time. He did, and I was 20 dollars poorer but it was worth it. My wife shot me down on virtually every golf name-Tiger (I was serious), Ben, Arnold, Jack, the whole list. We settled on Erik. I don't know of a single golfer named Erik. But I digress...

I am so very flippin' bored! I thought about taking a handful of the Vicodin they gave me and go out to work, but decided I still like to touch things, so better not. I guess I'll go back to clicpic. What fun. Write if you get time.

Try some Retail Therapy. Seems to work for my missus:mad:

Just cruise around all your favourite vendors sites and blow the credit card:biggrin:

Hang in there Dale ! I had a partial replacement 2 years ago this month . After I got off the crutches and went to visit my kids , I walked thru the snow up to the porch . As I have a habit of stomping the snow off my feet , it was too late to stop myself . I didn't do that again !!

Andy, that's probably part of my problem. They told me I COULD put weight on it, pain limiting. Hell, when I got done, it didn't hurt a bit with about a quart of the liquid heaven they gave me in the IV bag! So I was flying around the house thinking this is a piece of cake, and it took 18 hours for all the juice to get out, so I was sneaking out into the shop yesterday. The chickens came home to roost last night, and I don't have my little nippy bag anymore...

And Steven, that's the best advice I've heard in a very long time! I'll tell her Dr. Steven Skiprat told me it was OK, she'll never know the difference. That Pen Wizard is pretty cool...

Thanks guys, Tiger's about ready to start day 2 of his weekly butt-kicking. That'll keep me busy for a few hours.

And Thanks, Jim!

Chuck, bless your heart, I have the deepest sympathy! I actually had my ACL replaced 15 years ago, rehabbed it like a monster, just in time to get in a plane crash. We slammed into Lake Erie in a snowstorm at 300 kts.! My right leg was basically ripped off, but skin was still holding it on. My right tennis shoe (with my foot inside, broken in 42 places!) kept bouncing into my face while I floated there. ACL was basically gone, kneecap was obliterated, nearly no miniscus left. So had the ACL replaced, again, about 12 years ago and have had 4 arthro's since. I'm 55, and my surgeon thinks it's too early for an artificial knee, or I would have got that done this time. He's just buying me more time, which I think is sound. He's one of the few docs in America that are doing meniscus transplants. Yeah, live meniscus cells transplanted and grown anew again, so I'm comfy with this guy.

I know better than you think what you've gone through. And I just damned near did the faceplant in the garage, so I know what you mean. Your mind tells you one thing, your body something COMPLETELY different. I'll bet you're glad you got that done though. I can't wait to be pain-free again.

Here's a link to a blow-by-blow of my little mishap if you've got nothing else to do...http://www.wingsoflight.org/pdf/Wings Fall 2003.pdf .

Thanks for all the well-wishes,
Dale

Why did they not come up with couch-lathe ? Perhaps you can invent one during your "break" from the shop.
Hang in there and best of luck.

George, there's always the Oneway SD!!!! That's close! I may have to exercise Dr' Skiprat's Magic Therapy for that one.

Blummin Hell!!!! With the life you've had, it would take at least six months just to 'Count your lucky stars'!!!!!!!!

You must have your own little private angel looking out for you!!!!
If I was that lucky, I'd start buying lotto tickets:biggrin:

Good Lord! I read your story. Man, you are lucky to be alive. That is some gruesome injury.

You know, Keith, there was a surprising amount of beauty in the midst of that mess...and I do feel very blessed, and humble.

Well, another day and my knee feels good. I've got some blanks that have been under vacuum/minwax for over a week, they are probably really sauced, so I'm going out this morning and taking them out. After all day on the couch yesterday, that'll be a treat. And I may mix some PR-I got some more mica flakes in the mail on Tuesday and can't wait to try them. Can't stand long so doubt I'll turn anything. And I can't watch Tiger today, he got bounced...

Thanks for listening,
Dale
