To be a grandpa!!! I got a call from my son tonight and his wife of just under 4 months is pregnant.:) I'm only 47 for crying out loud. I told him I'd let him know when I was ready. I guess he didn't listen, as usual. ;) At least he'll be finished with the Infantry Officer Basic Course and Ranger School before the baby gets here. Now I need to figure out how to hang a baby seat from the rafters in the shop so it's positioned at the right height in front of the lathe. At least I have some time to figure it out.[:p]

Congrats on the soon to be grandbaby. If you think 47 and just now having your first grandchild is something, I am 58 and just had my second GREAT-grandson. But they can be a lot of fun.

That is exactly what i was thinking a little over 4 years agao when my doughter told us she was pregnant the first time.
You will get used to it then start spoiling that baby!

Congrats on the new baby.

My youngest daughter just had her second son on Sunday the 2nd of Sept. and her oldest is 7. And I am going to turn 49 in about a week.
 
I am 46 w/ a 4 yr old grandson....the nice thing about being a young grandfather is fishin....or camping....or riding a bike....or waterguns....or tools....

I met a gentleman the other day that is 54 years old. He has 4 daughters with a total of 8 grand children. He thought he was too young when the first grand came. They all call him Big Daddy.

I have the same picture, except holding some of those mini tools and making a pen. How old do you think the youngest pen maker ever was?
 
Congrats. I am thinking the same thing, as y oldest son and wife are expecting in Jan/Feb. Will be my first grandkid as well. Only thing is my youngest son will just be 3 the 27th of this month [:D]
 
Congratulations, Bruce! I was a grandfather before I was 45 and now have 10 grandchildren and another on the way. And I'm only 52 now! [:D] But it's great! Look on the bright side. By the time he/she is old enough to learn to turn, you'll still be young enough to teach them. [;)]

I'm jealous of all you guys.. I turn 66 in 2 weeks and I have been informed that I won't get any .. my son and his wife of 3 months.. have already said any GK's I get will be hairy and have four legs.

Fortunately, LOML and daughters are willing to share.. Three lovely little granddaughters, 16, 9 and 6.
 
Congrats Pen Pal!!! I have 11 grandkids and 2 greats but then again I'm a little beyond 47[;)] The "spoil them club" is just great[}:)][:D]
 
Congratulations! I've got 7 grandkids ranging from 1 month to 13 years. You will definately enjoy them -- and you get to spoil them and send them home to the parents! "Payback" time!

One's never "too young" for anything. Heck I'm only 32 years old and I already have 6 nephews, 11 nieces, 2 great nephews and a great niece (she was born 5 days ago.) I don't have any children myself as I think this family has ENOUGH. :)

I just know that they're gonna come and say "Tell me stories about grandma/grandpa/great grandma/great grandpa" when they get older. I just hope I can still remember and keep memories straight by then....so many family members....so many memories...so little time. :)
 
Congrats Grandpa! I'm 54 with two daughters and 3 grand-daughters, a black lab with the oldest and sheltie & cocker spaniel with the younger one [:)] But the oldest one is getting married in two weeks so things may change in the future [;)]

Someone told me the other day that the advantage to having a dog is you can sell the children if they get pregnant, something to think about! [:D]
 
Just think in a very short time you will hear, "Grand Paw, Grand Mother says I need you to help me turn this pen!"
