Hi All,

As some of you remember, I lost my 13 year old son to an asthma attack back in March. What I didn't know at the time was that in the process of picking him up and running with him, I herniated a disk right into my spinal cord and branching nerves. Well, after a successful surgery a couple of weeks ago, I am back on the forum and actually turned a pen last night!! :D

I feel great and want to thank everyone for their prayers during our family's time of need.

I also will be "dumping" a couple of big boxes of great "scrap" cocobolo I had to get out of my way just to get in my shop last night, so just giving a head's up!

Glad to hear you're doing well after your surgery. Your recovery seems remarkable. I had back surgery several years ago and even walking was difficult for several weeks.

Thanks Eric and Gerry. The surgeons are pretty good now adays....two days in the hospital and making you walk within hours of your surgery. Well, maybe it is not the skill of the surgeons, but the insurance companies wanting you to get out of there to limit their expenses!;)

Glad to have you back and happy your back is feeling good. Looking forward to your pens showing up on Strut your Stuff.

Hi Bill!

I'm glad to hear the back is doing well! Too bad about all that nasty wood in your way! [8D]

I have thought of you and your family often over the past couple of months. It is very nice to hear from you!

Scott.

Bill,
I can relate to your back pain, but I'm really sad to hear about your loss. Back pain kept me off of the computer for the better part of a year. I could do about 5 minutes, or so. I'm glad to hear that you're doing better (I am too:D).

'Bout time you got some good news. You were certainly due... I have found the shop a marvelously therapeutic place, and I retreat there any time I need to recover and decompress. I hope it works that way for you, too.

Hi Bill,
Welcome back.. I must have missed your post about your son.. I'll add my condolense for your loss... I lost my brother at 13 nearly 45 years ago... he still lives in my heart.. may your son continue to live in your heart.

I'm glad to hear the surgery was a success.. I've been lucky and never had back problems.. take care and continue to heal.

Thanks Guys (and gals). I was planning on going to Provo this year, but right now I don't know if my back will take the 4 hour drive down there in a week and a half.

Welcome back Bill, glad to hear the good news about your
back and that you are back in your shop.

I can relate to the back pain, I ruptured a disc four years ago and they told me it would be fine; it still gives me problems.
