I was going to bid on this, but..... WOW

I used to get a ton of wood off Ebay. But this auction shows why I stopped. It's at a hundred bucks with 13 minutes to go. This is for a nutbowl sized blank! Pretty, sure, but you said it brother...WOW.

I could never prove this, but think about the possibility of fraud on these deals. You get a few friends with different emails and have them bid it up, and in the heat of combat someone loses discipline and goes stupid on it. The "rabbits" back off, leaving some poor shmuck with a dinky piece of wood at 150 bucks.

What, is someone going to try and sell this after turning it? For what, 300 bucks? Good luck...

Ebay has recently changed the way they show bidders emails, so it made a post I made a second ago incorrect. In the not-too-distant past, they would show the entire ID of the bidder, so this looked fishy to me. It did, however, end up going for 122.50. Good deal? Not for me!

Only the seller sees all the actual bidders name; each bidder sees their own name, everyone else sees what you showed.

The Ebay notice states, "To help keep the eBay community safe, enhance bidder privacy, and protect our members from fraudulent emails, eBay has changed how User IDs display on the bid history page. Only you and the seller of the item can view your User ID, all other members will see anonymous user IDs, such as x***y."

I don't think it's an issue.

Yep, my bad, Gary! Bottom line, do you think that price makes sense?!!!

Dale

Price makes no sense -- but that's why I rarely get wood off ebay anymore.
You're probably correct about someone getting caught up in the moment and overbidding it though.
Then again, there are occassions when someone doesn't care what something costs because it's just what they want.
