You can burn them to a disc then rip them with windows media player. Use a RW and you can erase it. I am sure there is a conversion program out there too. You can also get an m4a to mp3 conversion program.

Seriously,though. You can change the setting on importing to itunes to save files as mp3 instead of their own file type. This makes life much easier when you want to use music elsewhere.

What is the current format of you music in iTunes? This makes a big difference. If they are already MP3 you have no problems, unless they are songs you purchased with DRM stuck to them.

In iTunes do the following: Choose Edit > Preferences, click General, and click Import Settings.
