I plan on making a pen set, 2 identical pen one with the grooms name and one with the brides name.
And what I am struggling with is what blanks to use

Do you think slims or sierras?

Use the search button here and type wedding pens in and you will get tons of examples. Many people use black for the groom and white for the bride. Do not use slims or Sierras. There are alot better options such as a Baron or Jr Gent or so on and you can get suggestions.

I currently have a matching set of Gold Zen RB/white swirl acrylic, being engraved for a 50th Wedding Anniversary. (his/hers)

For my cousins wedding, I sent her to the coastal scents site to match her wedding colors. Once i had the colors, I cast blanks using these colors. I beat those blanks into chunks. I cast a set of white chunky blanks, and a set of black chunky blanks. From these blanks, I made a white pen for my cousin, and a black pen for her new Husband. That way they could remember the wedding colors forever blah blah... It was a big hit!

what kit did you use for the cigar

I make a pen or a set as a gift for any of the couples getting married from my church. It's a small church so it's only a couple pens a year. I have them go to my website and pick a pen style they like. One couple chose a perfect fit in bloodwood. One couldn't decide between a slim and a Sedona FP, they got the fountain pen. You can see a few samples of the ones I made here.

We made a set of wedding pens for a N. Carolina girl that married a man from Scotland. Half from a ice storm blown-down maple that had spalted, in her and parent's front yard. The other half (elm) came from a man in Scotland that would not let me pay him for his troubles. He spent ~$25 on frt alone. I could not read his return address, so I could not even send him some wood. The contact was made on WoodCentral. The seven pens (4 parents, bride and groom, and maternal grandmother) were hand carried on the plane to the wedding in the UK. The top/bottom wood orientation was swapped on the three sets of two pens.

Fun for all. I love using commemorative/historical woods. I will post a pic when I find it. :)

Ryan

Yes I did use the ultra cigar kits as were shown in the link below yours. The difference was I bought one gold and one chrome and interchanged all the parts I could so that both kits wound up with all gold parts and the other all chrome parts. As you see from the photo of the kit there is a mixture of gold and chrome on each kit. I felt this way it looked better. Thanks for the kind words. Look forward to your choice.
