The last three days have been nothing but stress. Everything i try to do, from a simple keychain, to just rework some tools, has blown up in my face. I finally thought i was over it today, getting my PR colors about where i wanted them, and my tubes colored nicely, and permanently, i went for a euro. I get it turned, all happy and good, start sanding (through two steps) and start thinking about assembly when i notice the nib and the centerband are the same blank. It was very hard for me not to throw my mandrel through the window.

I have one more blank from the good pour that i will try later this evening. i sure hope it goes better. I just need one project to go good to get out of this slump.

I understand completely, my last two weeks have been that way both in the shop and out of it. Last week I launched a bowl blank twice and then split my first bracelet right in half. Today I went and looked at a lathe, scrollsaw and drill press off of Craigslist and the guy wanted way too much money for any of it. The only good deal was a paint pot that I didn't get.

too late. i parted it off of the tube to start over. more of my sadness, i didnt order any extra tubes. so i will surely end up with a few tubeless kits.

Slow down and go drink a cool glass of fresh cold tea. Take a break and then sneak back into the shop with a cookie for the 'spirits' that dwell in there. Leave the offering on the work bench and leave it there for them to eat. Things will get better in short order. (This works for me all the time :biggrin:)

BTW, DO NOT EAT THEIR COOKIE unless you want all hell to break loose all over the place! :eek:

Whaddya mean do not eat the cookie!! It was chocolate chip. It was. If I leave another cookie, say, oatmeal, will they leave me alone?

Hey, what is wrong with oatmeal cookies?!?!? They are my favorite. How dare you insult my taste in cookies!!!!!!

:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

Maybe they will ... and maybe they won't! Best to leave two cookies this go round! Heck, bring them a bag full and maybe they will share and not extract any more 'blood' money from you!

Here's what I did with my oatmeal breakfast. Made a pen out of it.

If oatmeal is your favorite cookie, you obviously do not have taste in cookies, so how can I be insulting it? :wink::wink::wink:

After about 40 yrs of making a poor living from woodworking I can only offer this: It's gonna happen..stop working..go do something else..take a walk..go fishing..do something else for as long as this "mood" seems to predominate your being...then go back...pushing it will lead to more frustration my 2 cents worth

I agree 100%.

Similar thing happens to me all the time. Just take a break for a couple of days and try again. I'll spend half a Saturday cutting and gluing up a segmented blank, then find out that the hole was drilled off center, or I drilled the wrong size hole, or I didn't make the blank long enough to compensate for saw kerf, or whatever. It's a painful part of the learning process.

I cut most of my finger off today. It can always be worse.
