On what to put on my black Ti Emperor FP. I have mulled this over for quite a while and just can't make up my mind. All suggestions, welcome.

Hi Steve!

I have a Black Ti Emperor Fountain Pen I write with at my desk every day. I did mine in one of Bill Baumbeck's double-dyed Boxelder burl blanks, in Teal and Violet. I think he does a double-dyed in a Red and Black that would be nice for this kit.

If not that, I would consider a nice acrylic of some kind, such as Lucite, or maybe something special from Ed's EPR or the PR Princess.

Have fun! And show pictures!

Scott.

Steve...

A couple of weeks back someone (my apologies that their name escapes me...) posted a photo of a black ti Emperor with rattlesnake blanks that I thought looked superb (so much so, that I bought two black ti Emperor kits in the last CSUSA group buy...).

Well, thanks for the suggestions. I think I'm leaning more toward natural wood. I'm not a big fan of the look of snake skin (sorry). Mike (MLKWoodworking) Posted a Gold TI Emp in DI, I just loved it. I have also considered African Blackwood.

Please, keep the suggestions comming. I still haven't made up my mind.

I like the way a nice dark piece of cross cut Koa looks on just about any kit, but on the Emperor it would look outstanding. Macadamia nut wood would also be another option if you want to go bold.

Steve,
Actually we have done the DIW burl on a 22k Jr Statesman rollerball.

And also a full size 22k Statesman FP

The black Ti Emp we did was with redwood burl from Nolan as well.

If you like a heavy pen then by all means pick what you want. If you do a lot of writing then stay away from the DIW as it adds that much more weight. Personally I think that a two tone grey box burl would rock on an Emp. I have one on a Jr States black Ti and it really looks great. Sorry no photos of that one.

Talk to Nolan as he will definitely be able to give you good feedback. He helped us a bunch when we did the Emp special order.

Thanks Mike!! Forgot to mention, it is a JR. Emperor, sorry. Still leaning toward DI or Blackwood. We will see. THX all.

Anymore suggestions?

Steve, I took a peek at your phtoto album just to help give me an idea of your taste. My first suggestion would be Jade truestone. Next would be your favorite celluloid blank. If your wanting wood then the double dyed stuff from AS. finally anything from AS would be deserving. Bill never dissapoints when it comes to providing fantastic wood.
