Sorry about the brag but I couldn't help myself. I stopped at a local lumber mill to pick up some kiln dried red oak boards while loading the lumber I ask if they ever sold any split or short lumber. The guy loading me said yes what are you looking for I told him anything in 8/4 so he came back with this pallet of kiln dried cut off's of walnut and ash. he told me it weigh about 1000 pounds! Looks like I have a lot of turning to do this winter.

Never hurts to share the benefits with friends !

I was recently gifted some black walnut by a good friend who builds stair cases. He needed some victorian spindles copying a few years back and I helped out. It was tiring but one of the best favours I've ever done as the return benefits have been incredible. Also he's one of my best buddies so I'd have done it anyway to get him out of a tricky situation.
