USE A MANDREL AGAIN, for turning pens. I tried turning between centers for the first time this weekend and man, what a diffrence. When I got close to the bushings, it was cool that they where not off center. After I had them turned down to size, I just moved the barrels to my mandrel and sanded and finished them. I did this so I could do both at the same time. And yes, you can use the bushings you all ready have, with the exception of slimlines. And I bought a set of those from johnyCNC.

I have went back to using my Beall collet chuck just for turning, but I unscrew it and use between centres without bushings for sanding and applying CA/BLO.:D

LOL... and they called me nuts at first! [}:)]

Pretty sweet, Huh? Don't forget those light colored woods will not have any "dirt" from the bushings dragged into them when you sand the blanks either.
